Better All Together

Better All Together targeted young people from 9 to 13 years of age from different backgrounds exploring the theme of community building in Queen’s Crescent area. The project engaged young people in creative workshops as a route to develop a positive and engaging dialogue about community life and diversity. Drama games and craft activities, interviews with local people and visits to local places were carried out to help spark debates exploring the vision of celebrating 'togetherness', the importance of solving conflicts and improving community life.

The making of a short film about the community was a motivational goal throughout the project. The participants, with the guidance of a filmmaker produced a short documentary celebrating their community and interrogating what could be done to improve it. This film was then shared with other children at local primary schools and used to further debate themes explored during the project. The hands-on and creative approach led participants to learn about their community in a team as well as learn skills in film making and journalism.
